in Roger Scott: From the street, 2001, p109. One of only
two large format photographs, printed on rolled silver gelatin
paper. In November 1975, two weeks after the dismissal of Gough
Whitlam, Roger Scott was photographing a Liberal Party rally
at Randwick Racecourse, which was attended by about 20,000 Liberal
supporters. According to Scott, Malcolm Fraser was standing up
on the flatbed of a semitrailer, "whipping the crowd into
a frenzy." Scott said he made his way onto the back of Fraser's
flatbed and began taking photos while Fraser was shouting comments
like "A vote for Labor is a vote for the communists."
Scott, enraged, yelled out "Fraser, you're a f---ing dope!"
The Liberal leader spun around and pointed at Scott just as he
took the photograph, capturing the moment.
